ROEMHELD: New wedge clamping element with patented safety bolts for angled clamping edges
A new wedge clamper featuring dual functionality and extensive safety functions has joined the range of clamping technology products from the ROEMHELD Group for presses and punches. The innovation boasts a patented bolt with positive-locking safety step, which can safely hold even heavy upper dies during pressure drops or maintenance work on the die.
The combination of automatic movements, position control of the clamping bolt and the built-in safety step is the hallmark of this reliable, easy-to-monitor clamping die. It can be used, for example, on the pressing tappet with angled clamping edges. The wedge clamp, thanks to its robust design, is able to withstand high temperatures and soiling and offers a long service life. The modular design guarantees cost-effective production, high parts availability and short delivery times.
Positive-locking safety step secures upper dies during a pressure drop
The wedge clamp is made up of a hydraulic block cylinder and a housing-guided bolt with a contact surface angled by 20°. A step in the form of a “lug” on the clamping bolt and a corresponding adapter on the die clamping edge provide additional safety.
If there is a drop in pressure at the pressing tappet for any reason, the upper die descends onto the safety step and, with the adapter, forms a positive-locking connection that secures the screws and die in place. A position control also checks the clamping and releasing position of the bolt and also reports if no die has been placed or the clamping edge is not set correctly.
Simple retrofitting thanks to flexible, adjustable clamping materials and corresponding adapters
ROEMHELD is making retrofitting easier with adapter plates that can be simply attached to existing dies. The wedge clamp elements are also designed as a variant system, allowing customers to choose from a range of design options. Elements with a single or dual function, exerting clamping forces from 25 to 1250 kN, are available for straight and angled clamping edges. The wedge clamps can also be used virtually maintenance-free thanks to permanent lubrication. Multi-layer, high-tech coatings can also be applied on request to the bolts and housing in order to reduce wear and tear during challenging applications.
ROEMHELD: Setup time optimiser for sheet forming, plastic and rubber processing
With its extensive range of quick die clamping technology, the setup time optimiser ROEMHELD can complete virtually any clamping technology task in sheet forming, plastic and rubber processing. The magnetic, hydraulic and electromechanical clamping systems are versatile in use and help to make the processes of single and series production in virtually every industry more efficient and economical. Products for changing dies, including die changing carts, roller bars and powered carrying consoles supplement the range.
With innovative products for production, assembly, clamping and drive technology, the company and its subsidiaries are regarded internationally as the market and quality leaders in their respective industries. Most recently, it received the 2016 Euroblech Award for the “Automation & Handling” category in recognition of a HILMA gripper bar coupling that works without its own drive and is therefore particularly compact and easy to retrofit. Elements for the design, testing and maintenance of major components used in wind energy systems, components for the automation of setup procedures and for machine communication in the context of Industry 4.0 supplement the portfolio. Activities relating to magnetic clamping technology are bundled in Römheld Rivi GmbH, which was founded in 2017. In addition to a catalogue range comprising some 25,000 articles, customer-specific products are developed and produces so that the ideal solution can be delivered for virtually every task.
The group of companies is represented worldwide in more than 50 countries with service and sales organisations, and in particular supplies the international mechanical engineering, automotive, aviation and agricultural industries as well as medical technology. At its three sites in Laubach, Hilchenbach and Rankweil / Austria, 510 employees achieved a turnover of around Euro 105 million in 2016.
