Appreciations to President Donald Trump for Signing Save Our Seas 2.0 Act into Law

Today, president & CEO Tony Radoszewski issued the following statement after the presidential signing of the Save Our Seas 2.0 Act:

“Save Our Seas 2.0 being signed into law is a testament to the incredibly hard work done by everyone involved. Good public policy passed with overwhelming bipartisan support and consensus between industry and environmental organizations is hard to come by these days. But we got it done. The company is proud to have supported this effort since the measure’s introduction last year and we applaud Senator Dan Sullivan (R-AK) and Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) for their leadership on this issue and thank the President for his signature.

“The Save Our Seas 2.0 Act will support research and innovation by providing funds to strengthen domestic infrastructure and help reduce marine debris.

“For the better part of a century, plastics have revolutionized the way we live. Plastic is easier to reuse, repurpose and recycle than just about any other material. Plastic products must be recycled and reused – not littered – so we can protect the environment while still enjoying the benefits of plastics. This bipartisan effort will strengthen the United States’ marine debris response abilities and establish incentives for innovations and research in this area. This piece of legislation is exactly what the country needs to build a better recycling infrastructure.

“We will work with the new administration to ensure the provisions of this measure are fully implemented and look forward to working with Senators Sullivan and Whitehouse as their next effort to address marine debris takes shape in the new Congress.”

In October, the company hosted Senators Sullivan and Whitehouse, the bipartisan cosponsors of Save Our Seas 2.0, at its Global Plastics Summit, where they discussed the importance of public-private partnership with our Vice President of Government Affairs Matt Seaholm.
